Summer 2026 photos coming soon!
Creepy, crawly creatures!
Cicadas, hornets, and caterpillars abound in these late summer days....The kids observe the hornets buzzing in the fields in the distance and watch them prey on cicadas! The cicadas serenade us from the trees and the kids get excited to examine their exoskeletons...and we have discovered fuzzy green caterpillars which the kids built a home for by moving big logs, sticks and leaves!
Using our sense of sight to explore in nature!
We had a gorgeous week filled with sunshine to explore using our eyes! On our hikes, we spotted different colors of the rainbow growing around us and the kids also decided to spot and collect food to leave for the forest animals. We used art materials to look at the world in different colors, and our tools - binoculars and magnifying glasses - allowed the kids to look closer at many aspects of nature. And of course there was mud - lots of mud!
Experimenting with water!
Our week together gave us mud, rain drops and puddles, as well as ice cubes to keep cool and spray bottles to mist our natural surroundings (and ourselves!)
Sunshine, superheroes...and more mud!
Inspired by the sunshine, the kids were creative, energetic, and smiley creatures this week! Using the heat and warmth of the sun, we cooked smores in our solar oven. Boxes, fabric and little lights inspired dramatic play together. And of course there was mud....
Yoga in the sunshine!
We are grateful to have Kelly come visit us each week to offer yoga in the heart of the park. She leads the kids through moments of movement, quiet stillness, and laughter, allowing the kids the freedom to move, experiment, create, and express their ideas and feelings....
