Enrollment for Full Year Classes, ages 2-4

September 2024 - June 2025

Our classes are a brilliant way to provide an alternative to preschool for children outdoors in New York City. Joining us multiple days each week gives your child the opportunity to regularly explore, play, and learn with us in our expansive natural classroom.

Enrolling in the full year program allows families to commit to multiple days a week and lock in their child’s schedule for the full year. Classes begin in September 2024 and run through mid-June 2025, with holiday breaks in December and April. Committing to our full year program guarantees your child a space throughout our fall (Sept-Feb) and spring (Feb-June) sessions, as well as a discounted tuition over those families enrolling by semester. We offer a select number of spaces for year round enrollment to those families we feel are best matched to our program and passionate about our philosophy.

Classes meet 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. Families may choose from the following options (no substitutions please).

  • 2 days/week - Tuesday & Thursday

  • 3 days/week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday

  • 4 days/week - Monday through Thursday

  • 5 days/week- Monday through Friday

Time: 9am-12pm

Where: Prospect Park, Brooklyn.

Our classes, and Prospect Park itself, is on the land of the Munsee Lenape people. The proper name of New York City is the Munsee word, Lenapehoking, which means “Land of the Lenape.”

Drop off locations are inside the park as follows:

  • Vanderbilt Avenue and Prospect Park South West: Just outside of the Vanderbilt playground

  • Grand Army Plaza: On the Northern Tip of the Long Meadow near Endale Arch.

  • Prospect Park West and 9th Street: Pass the monument at the 9th street entrance. You will see our groups set up on the grass between Harmony Playground & The Bandshell.

Our classes are mixed age and denoted by drop off location. If you would like your child in the same group as another child, both families must note the request in their application and apply for the same drop off location.

Cost: Prices below reflect tuition for the full year (September - June)

  • 2 days per week: $6,550

  • 3 days per week: $9,325

  • 4 days per week: $11,350

  • 5 days per week: $13,600

Our tuition ensures fair pay for our teachers and covers the cost of our supplies, materials, and administrative fees as well as land reparations based on recommendations from The Lenape Center. Information sessions, application, and registration process:

  • Interested families must sign up for our upcoming zoom general information session using the form linked at the bottom of this page.

    Our information session will take place on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023 from 7:00pm-8:30pm

    This information session will be recorded. If your family is unable to attend the online information session, please complete the form below and select “unable to attend.” We will send you a link to watch the recorded info session prior to submitting your application. This recording will be available by the end of the day on Friday, November 17th, 2023

  • All families that fill out the form below and attend the information session will be sent a link via email to apply to 2024-2025.

  • The application deadline for 2024-2025 is 12pm Friday, January 12th, 2024. All applications received by 12pm on 01/12/24 will be considered.

  • Families will begin to receive confirmation of acceptance starting January 19th-January 31st, 2024. Notice of acceptance will be followed by a tuition agreement. Deposits will be due shortly thereafter to secure your child's place in our classes.

Discounts, Payment Policies, Fees, and other important information:

  • Sibling discounts are available, with tuition for each additional child reduced by 10%, after the initial child's full tuition.

  • Financial aid is available to those that qualify. For more information please click here.

  • Application fee: $95 (there is an additional registration fee if you choose to enroll)

  • Tuition Schedule: An initial non-refundable deposit in the amount of 10% of the yearly tuition is due upon enrollment to secure your child's place.  An additional $115 registration fee is due upon enrollment. The remaining payments are divided into installments over the course of the year beginning June 2024. All payments are non-refundable.

  • All payments and spots reserved in this full-year option are non-refundable, non-transferable, and must be submitted by date noted on your invoice to secure your child’s spot in our classes. By accepting Brooklyn Nature Days offer, families assume responsibility for the full tuition balance determined for their child’s yearly tuition. Families are responsible for the full balance due, regardless of the days and times their child actually attends. No refunds or credits given for classes missed, including those due to travel, illness, relocation, or schedule conflicts. Makeup classes are only offered for Inclement Weather days.

  • Updated Health Form and Immunizations are required for all children attending.

  • We are a peanut and tree-nut free program. All families must provide peanut and tree-nut free snack and lunch for their child.

  • Schedule Change Fee: Please look over your selections carefully before submitting your enrollment form. Once registration and payment are submitted, all selections are final. Any changes to scheduling are subject to a $85 schedule change fee.

  • Our preschool alternative program offers a limited number of full year (September-June) spots for both children in our 2-4 age program and our PreK-2nd Grade program. Applications will be considered in the order they are received as well as evaluated for commitment to inquiry-based nature education. Families who do not receive an full year offer based on space constraints will still have the option to enroll for our classes by semester.

  • Gentle phase-in schedule: Our first week of all classes operates on a phase-in schedule. During phase-in we meet for a shorter portion of the day and groups are half the size and staggered. We do this in order for children to have an opportunity to get to know their teachers and classmates and to gently introduce them to our classes.

  • Late fees: A late payment fee in the amount of $25 will be applied to payments made 3 business days past due and a late payment fee in the amount of $50 will be applied to payments made 5 business days past due. Payment must be submitted by due date to secure your child’s spot in our classes.
